Headlice and the quiz

Hi everybody.

Headlice

Head lice is going around the classroom. Please get mum or another adult at home to check your hair for these little critters. If you have them, you need to treat them with a special shampoo and comb them all out. There is a notice coming home tomorrow about them. The office can help you with some ideas if you need some.
There is nothing to be embarrassed about!

The quiz

For the students this week, there is a big quiz on Friday, just like last term.
Everyday two of the categories will be revealed and the students need to try and increase their knowledge in these areas for their homework.

The two categories to be revealed today are:
Famous faces    and      The Solar System

Caitlin's hockey success

On Saturday, Jono and I went to check out Caitlin playing hockey.
The Parkvale team was in the semi-final, which they won 3-2 in a very close game.
We were very impressed with Caitlin's excellent skills and her "never give up" attitude. She did some awesome attacking moves!
Well done Caitlin!

Round of 16 soccer

This morning was the first knockout game of the Fifa World Cup,
Brazil and Chile played, and the game was tied 1-1 at the end of full time. Nobody scored in extra time, so it went to a penalty shootout.
How exciting!

Great Georgia

Georgia is this week's postcard recipient. Her behaviour is always fantastic and she gives her best with all of her school work.
Georgia is a great example of Parkvale Pride. She is very determined, and absolutely responsible. She often helps with jobs in the morning, and is an awesome helper to the people who sit near her in their group.
Georgia is a great role model. Well done!

Fifa World Cup 2014 group stages update

There are still many games to be played in the group stages of the tournament.
However, due to some of the results, there are some teams that are definitely going into the next round, but are still playing to see if they come first or second in their group.
Unfortunately, there are some teams who are definitely out of the tournament, even though they have a game or two to go.

Magnificent Mya

Yesterday Jono and I went to watch Junior netball, just for a short while.
We saw Mya there and were very impressed with her playing.
She tries really hard, and was especially good at defending.
Awesome work Mya.

Tia
Tarshay
Connor
Logan
Mya
Victoria

I am so proud of the effort that I know some of them put in. Mya and her mum even made some flash cards!

Postcard Week 7

Well done to Caitlin who received the postcard for the very first time. Caitlin did a fantastic job with her school work this week, her attitude has been very positive, and she has managed her behaviour well. She has been excellent at staying on task with her class work.
Caitlin also did an absolutely fantastic job of looking after a younger student at the Rippa Rugby tournament yesterday. I love that she took a helpful and leading role. Awesome work Caitlin.

Also, I forgot to take the photo today!

Super Soccer Supporters

Every morning before school, we have the live world cup match playing on the projector screen.
I have been really surprised at the support and backing that the kids have shown for their teams.

Each morning there is a line of chairs in front of the board, signs, chants and cheering going on.

We even had a few guests from other classes today.

Well done for being such good supporters Room 12!

Nigeria is Caitlin's team for the tournament

Skyla adopted Nigeria for the morning

As did Georgia

The line starts small........

But it soon grows......

Other kids sometimes join in too

We don't mind the extra support.

Matariki

We had an awesome time at Matariki today.
We started with a performance by a Maori dance company, which was amazing.
Then we all went to different places to learn about different things. There was flax weaving, poi making, kite making, rakau, outdoor sports, waiata and string games.
Here are some pictures.
